Adobe MAX (Los Angeles '09)

Recorded Attendees
Description:

NOTICE: This event is NOT hosted by San Flashcisco. RSVP’ing on this page will NOT gain you entry to the event.

MAX 2009 is an extraordinary opportunity to learn new skills, explore emerging technologies, and connect with thousands of other industry leaders, Adobe products users, and Adobe teams.

The conference offers hundreds of informative sessions and hands-on labs for designers, developers, and decision-makers. There are many valuable networking opportunities, from organized events to casual conversations in hallways between sessions.

This year’s conference will focus on three emerging trends that are revolutionizing communications: social computing, client and cloud, and the spread of rich media across screens and devices. MAX 2009 will give you the skills, insight, and contacts to take advantage of these opportunities as they transform our industry.

Mike Says:

I have never attend Adobe Max conference and was thinking about attending this year. For anyone that has attended this conference before. Is it worth shelling out the $1500 that it costs for the conference. Was it it worth it? Can anyone give me your opinion on why it was or wasn’t worth it to go?

senocular Says:

Its worth it if you can afford it. If you can’t, then you might feel a little gypped in the end depending on what you expect to get.

But you get to meet a lot of great people – people close to the products (if you go, don’t miss the birds of a feather) as well as other developers working with the same technologies. The night life is also pretty active with parties both hosted by the conference and those not. You definitely get more out of the conference if you hook up with some people and have some fun.

The sessions can be hit and miss. Sometimes they’re good, sometimes they’re not. Unless you’re a complete beginner, I think most of the hands (“classroom”) on sessions are a little tedious and a waste of time. Some of the theoretical talks seem a little better (IMO). Of course there are exceptions, and different people do different talks every year so there’s no telling what the quality will be.

And of course one of the big focuses this year will be mobile, especially with respect to Flash. So if your cell phone looks like this: http://www.ecojoes.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/10/old_school_cellphone.jpg

Maybe this MAX isn’t for you, and you should save up for next year ;)

John Says:

Looking forward to it.

We are up for a MAX Award this year in the education category! Please take a look (and vote!) at Synchronous Objects by tracermedia.

Are there any informal/formal San Flashcisco get togethers?

Katie Says:

I was looking at going to MAX this year, but with finances tight, I just couldn’t make it. Is next year going to be that different with 5 coming out? Or will that be all mum with no open beta?
